2700 grafts into front third by Dr Feller Nov 05

Created on December 11, 2006 (Last modified on December 12, 2006)

This album contains some pre-op pictures, pictures taken on the day of my HT and post-op pictures at different stages from immediately post-op up to one year post-op

Pre-op

Zoom

Not much left at the front! This is after 25 years of hair loss.

Another pre-op picture

Zoom

This is a rare picture! I kept well away from cameras at this time (about 6 months pre-op) - just looking at that bald head made me depressed.

Time to do something about it!

After some research and meeting Spex, I decided to go with Dr Feller in New York. I saw some horror pictures of HTs that had been done in the UK and other European countries and decided not to risk it and go to the best on the other side of the Atlantic. Here is my new hairline drawn in.

Immediately post-op - 2700 grafts

Zoom

This is what I looked like after the surgery. I had strip surgery, the strip was approx 26.5 cm long and just over 1 cm wide.

5 days post-op

Zoom

5 days post-op. Still very red but otherwise healing nicely without any complications.

16 days post-op

Zoom

The grafts are mostly still there but the shedding has begun.

44 days post-op

Zoom

Most of the grafts have shed, some remained and continued growing and some just remained there as stubble. The little bit of hair I had before is growing back.

3 Months Post-Op

Zoom

At last! After 2 months and 3 weeks of suspense, hairs started sprouting! I felt much better at this stage when I could see hairs sprouting throughout my recipient area.

My scar healed up nicely. I was pretty much back to normal after 9 days when I had the stitches out. At 3 months I'd had a few haircuts and my hair was even and covered the scar well.

3.5 Months Post-Op

Zoom

Once my growth started, it came in quickly and I could see a clear difference each week.

4 Months Post-Op

Zoom

More hair! One side is coming in faster than the other and I was a bit worried at this stage. The growth evened out later on.

4 Months Post-Op With Flash

Zoom

My hair looked more tranpsarent with flash at this stage.

5 Months Post-Op

Zoom

The growth is really kicking in now and I now have more hair than before surgery.

5.5 MonthsPost-Op

Zoom

My rapid growth continues! A big difference just after 2 weeks!

6.5 Months Post-Op

Zoom

I don't usually have my hair brushed back like this but did it for this photo. Rapid growth continued up to 6.5 months.

6.5 Months Post-Op

Zoom

This is how I usually have my hair... 6.5 months

7.5 months - comb forward

Zoom

At 7.5 months I had enough hair to do a 'comb-forward'

9.5 months - after short haircut

Zoom

This picture was taken by Spex at the London meeting. I had had a shorter than anticipated haircut and suffered some shedding after trying Nizoral shampoo, so had less hair at 9.5 months than at 7.5 months.

Another 9.5 month picture by Spex

9.5 months - hairline

Zoom

A hairline shot by Spex...

9.5 months - hairline exposed

Zoom

This shows how natural my hairline is, no pitting or bumps. I'm confident that this wouldn't be spotted as a HT even upon close inspection.

One year!

Zoom

Here I am one year post-op with longer hair.

One year!

Zoom

Another one year pic after a trim.

Before and One Year After Comparison

This is what Dr Feller can give you with only 2700 grafts! Can't wait to get more!
